Welcome to the wonderful, slightly weird, world of my mashi; please keep all arms and legs inside of the vehicle as we embark on an adventure across the rich landscape of random thoughts I live my life by.

‘Mashisoyo’ means delicious in Korean. I am Korean-American, and while I’m mostly Asian-excellent -_- , I failed in learning my mother-tongue. The best I can do is mash my Korean and English together to create a very special Kanglish - a cute sounding kind :) One of my favorite ways to bastardize Korean words is shortening them to sounds I can easily pronounce. So ‘mashisoyo’ becomes ‘mashi’ - the cute sounding version of the word. The genius thing is by shortening the word, I’ve simultaneously brought it closer to its root meaning of ‘flavor’. And this is where it all begins.

Mashi - this is a word I use to describe/judge all things. People, ambiance, fashion, life - you name it, and this word is appropriate for it. If I’m shopping for a dress to wear to a holiday party, I’m not just looking for something that’s glamorous or elegant. It has to have the right mashi. When you first start hanging with a new person and you’re feeling out whether it’s going to be best friends forever or just friend-ish -- the kind where you always say “we should hang out” but you never do? That’s evaluating mashi. Or that moment when you’re at the karaoke bar just waiting for the perfect mashi to hit so you can whip out your tambourines and bring the house down with “Sweet Caroline.” What was a cute sounding word has evolved into something that has feeling. It’s a moment, an essence, and full of depth.
So as you all come along on my adventures I hope you 1. Understand that mashi helps make up the foundation of all things at 'my bittersweet life.' (Seriouso, this is a prerequisite), and 2. Start to see my unique mashi and realize you too have a pretty special flavor of your own.
It’s that or you curse my name, wish you could take the last 2.5 minutes of your life back, and try to block me from your memory forever.
